Family and friends of the 64-year-old Methuen woman killed after a van struck her at an intersection in Lawrence earlier this month said she was a "beautiful soul."

Silvana Seabra, 64, who was struck by a van on April 3 in Lawrence and died of her injuries a week later, was remembered as a devoted Christian who loved children, her family and friends said.

Silvana Seabra, 64, was hit just before 2:45 p.m. on April 3 at the intersection of Lawrence Street and Erving Avenue, the Essex County District Attorney's Office said. Paramedics rushed her to Boston Medical Center, but she died from her injuries on Monday, April 10.

Seabra was a Brazilian native who worked as a substitute teacher for middle and high schools, her niece Viviane Melgaco said. Her passion was helping children, Seabra's loved ones eulogized, second only to her Christian faith.

"She was the sweetest, most kind-hearted woman I have ever known," Melgaco wrote in a message. "She was gentle and kind. ... This is a huge loss to anyone and everyone that has ever known this blessed woman. She was an amazing, thoughtful, sweet, kind-hearted Christian. She spread love everywhere she went."

Several people have posted memorials to Seabra online, each highlighting her faith and celebrating her assured ascension to heaven.

"We already miss her laughs. Today there's a party in heaven," Pra Irene Melgaco posted. "We'll love you forever."

There is no public memorial planned for Seabra in the US. Her family in Brazil plans to hold funeral services when they receive her body.

Massachusetts State Police are investigating the cause of the crash. Authorities are withholding the driver's name until the troopers release their ruling, the prosecutor said.

A man also struck by the van was treated for minor injuries at an area hospital and released.
